MAG Chair Collection

Magnus Sangild & Vúóng Kim Daniel, 2025

INTRODUCING MAG CHAIR COLLECTION

Inspired by nature, shaped by hand, built to last. MAG turns everyday seating into a refined statement - explore how design and material meet.

MAG Chair Collection

MAG Chair moves naturally into all interiors: private homes, refined workspaces, hotels, restaurants, and spaces where furniture is expected to contribute to atmosphere and identity, not merely function.

It invites pause and presence - supporting conversation, focus, and quiet moments alike.

The collection features a dining chair and barstool in either solid oak or metal.

Built to be seen

The wood is not concealed, but integrated and visible - an honest expression of craftsmanship and material integrity.

MAG is not simply upholstered; it is built. Solid oak in both legs and seat structure gives the chair a physical presence that elevates it from functional seating to a refined, luxurious object.

A chair for the senses

The MAG Chair is conceived as a sensorial statement - a chair that speaks equally to the body and the eye.

Its design originates from an organic reference: a succulent leaf, dense with moisture and tension. From this source emerges the chair’s soft, compact volume - generous and sculptural - tapering into a subtle, precise edge along the backrest. The result is a form that balances the organic and the controlled, the inviting and the exact.

“We designed the MAG Chair Collection to reflect the fluidity of modern life and adapt to different social phases of life. People need seating that supports both long hours of concentration and informal conversations”

Why a succulent?

The creation of MAG Chair stems from an unusually close design dialogue between Mazo partner and Head of Design, Magnus Sangild, and emerging designer Daniel Nguyen.

They was inspired by the succulent because it embodies resilience, compactness, and elegance. Every curve and taper of MAG is designed to reflect that - a chair that looks light but feels solid, that is sculptural but deeply comfortable.

A soft welcome with a solid structure

The result is a chair that embraces contradiction.

Soft without losing precision.

Robust without heaviness.

Elegant without fragility.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Magnus Sangild
& Vúóng Kim Daniel

The creation of MAG is rooted in an open and respectful design dialogue between Mazo’s experienced Head of Design, Magnus Sangild, and emerging designer Vúóng Kim Daniel. Their collaboration draws from the shokunin–deshi tradition – the Japanese relationship between master and apprentice – and the Vietnamese thầy–trò model, where humility and curiosity meet responsibility and guidance.

“We let the process shape us as much as we shaped the chair,” says Daniel. “There was room  to experiment, challenge and learn – which is also reflected in the final design.”

From this dynamic came a design that is both poetic and practical: soft but defined, elegant but grounded, robust yet easy to live with. The MAG Chair reflects not only a meeting of minds but a shared ambition to create something that truly fits into the diverse lives we lead today.
